About FAST Riding School

What do we do?

We take you to the next level!

Gain a better understanding and improved control of a motorcycle to make you a better and safer rider while increasing your riding pleasure! At FAST, we do not teach you how to ride a motorcycle, you must know the basics before joining us at the track.

You do not need a motorcycle street riding license to take our courses.

Receive a Fast Riding School Certificate

A FAST Riding School Certificate is awarded after the completion of each courses (Phases). You can register for a track day with different organizations with your Phase #1 but we recommend also completing Phase #2 for more track time and improve your skills. Phase #2 will also get you closer to getting a racing license. Check with your local racing organization for their requirements.

You might just want to try riding on a racetrack

If you've never ridden on a racetrack before and want to try it, FAST Riding School provides the safest environment to experience this thrill for the first time. Proper instruction and 30+ years of racetrack teaching experience.

You might already participate in track days

You might already participate in track day events, but if you've never taken one of our courses, you may have trouble bringing your lap times down and wonder how you could improve. We can help you gain confidence, increase your speed, and ride more smoothly.

Our Phase 2 course is for you if your goal is to keep improving and applying the techniques learned in Phase 1. Many track day riders are adding our Phase 2 on the 7-turn Nelson track, our Phase 3 on the faster 10-turn Pro Track, and our Phase 4 Long Track course to their track day calendar to perfect their technique and upgrade their performance.

You might want to race

Do you have what it takes? We will help you find out as we make you a better street and track rider, one phase at a time! At the end of your courses, you will receive a certificate that will get you closer to getting your racing license. Check with your local racing organisation for their requirements.

We run rain or shine

It might be more fun to ride in dry conditions, but there is a lot to learn on a wet track.

Most riders are uncomfortable riding in wet conditions, mainly because they do not ride in the rain very often.

With our guidance, a rainy day can represent a great opportunity to improve your confidence and riding abilities in wet conditions.

Is this for you? Since 1987

FAST Riding School is the simplest and safest way to bring your riding pleasure, confidence and safety to a higher level so you can enjoy all aspects of motorcycle riding. The only requirement is that you know how to ride and shift gears on a motorcycle, a driver's license is not required.

We provide personalized instruction for advanced riders as well as those with little riding experience. Our unique teaching methods allow you to improve the basics and learn advanced riding techniques one-on-one, at your own speed, while having fun on a racetrack. Because Shannonville Motorsport Park offers different racetrack layouts to explore, we teach you in a very safe environment that mimics street riding while fulfilling your desire for speed.

You will improve more in one day than you would in years of riding on your own.

FAST students riding on the track

For every type of rider

Whether you're young or old, male or female, a sport bike rider or a touring enthusiast, a new rider or, even if you've been riding for years, we will teach you how to become a safer and more confident rider in a controlled, structured environment…and you'll have the time of your life!

If you recognize yourself in any of the above scenarios, FAST Riding School is for you!

Introduction

All instructors are either past or current Pro-Racers. They have been around motorcycles for a long time and have a vast knowledge of advanced motorcycle riding skills. We have helped over 25 000 motorcyclists become better and safer riders in the last 40 years.

All will tell you that they have learned more about handling a motorcycle in one day at FAST than they had in years of day-to-day riding. We often hear: “I did not know that I could learn so much in one day. I strongly recommend it to any motorcyclist. Plus…I had a blast!”

On a school day, our team of at least 5 instructors will teach and coach you through every step of your course. Our mechanic, James Collins, has extensive motorcycle preparation experience, having prepped bikes for racers and for himself as a Pro-Racer. He prepares our fleet of 245 school motorcycles, ensuring they are in perfect track condition and ready for you to use.

FAST Riding School offers its advanced riding courses since 1987 (40 years)

A FAST school day

You can take any of our FAST advanced riding courses on our school motorcycles or use your own bike. You can choose to wear our riding gear (all-inclusive package) or wear your own.

We teach in a racetrack setting to provide a controlled environment and safe conditions.

Each of our Advanced Riding Courses (Phase 1, 2, 3, 4 & 'R') corresponds to a full day of activities that unfold from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Each course is for 36 students, divided into 3 groups according to their speed and experience. 16 students for Phase 'R'.

All courses will take you through 2 main components

Part 1: Presentation of riding techniques. Each Phase 1 course starts with a one-hour presentation of riding techniques that you will later practice and develop on the track throughout the day. Phases 2, 3, and 4 start with a track walk with instructor(s) commenting each turn and explaining the techniques to be implemented.

Part 2: On-track lessons. Our on-track lessons for each of our courses consist of seven ½-hour sessions, each broken down into 3 parts: Part 1: 10-minute preparation (with our lead instructor as teacher); Part 2: 10-minute track riding; Part 3: 10-minute performance report and video (from your personal group instructor).

This ensures that you get MAXIMUM feedback AND actual on-track riding experience out of your FAST course!
